offshore windpark Thornton Bank
Thornton Bank is located 28 kilometers offshore the Belgian sea.
The installed power will be up to 300 megawatt and can produce approximately 1.000 gigawatt per annum. The amount is sufficient to cover the consumption of 600.000 individuals. 60 turbines of the five-megawatt class are planned, those will be anchored by a foundation 28m deep in the sea.
The first six turbines are already installed in the range of a pilot phase. The towers of the pilot phase are produced by AMBAU GmbH. Four more projects will be followed by 2013.
